Marine Project Engineer
Teignbridge Propellers International Ltd is developing an exciting and high profile, funded research and development project to develop, test and demonstrate a novel, fuel saving propeller for commercial ships. Teignbridge is looking to employ a new member of staff specifically to support the delivery of this project which will run over a two-year period during 2017 and 2018. The successful candidate will work with and report to the project manager and project technical officer. The project will be run in three distinct stages: 1) research and technology development - market analysis and numerical modelling and reporting activity, 2) design and test - extensive design, prototyping and testing on Teignbridge's in-house test vessel and 3) demonstrate and commercialise - including full scale demonstration and performance evaluation of the propeller on a hundred metre plus vessel. The successful candidate will have an engineering or naval architecture degree and proficiency in: - Engineering design - Technical writing - Market research The successful candidate will also ideally have prior knowledge in: - The ship building industry - Ship design - Numerical simulation modelling - Part scale and full scale testing - Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) Good technical writing and a methodical approach to analysing the market, developing the product to match customer need and supporting with the design and testing of the product will be key to effective delivery of the role.
