FINANCIAL CONTROLLER Location: West Horndon, but with travel to some of our clientsother sites in the UK and Germany. Our client works with the world's top automotive companies to provide data analysis, business process and product lifecycle management tools Our client isexpanding rapidly and now have an exciting opportunity within our Finance function to put the foundations in place for future stability and growth. The Financial Controller is responsible for leading the company's financial accounting, reporting and controlling activities across the group of companies to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice. RESPONSIBILITIES - Prepare monthly management accounts for each reporting entity and the group for full review by the Senior Management team; - Ownership of the year-end accounting process for the company; - Aged debtor control and liaison with Business Leaders on ensuring billing up to date; - Preparation of VAT returns and corporate tax computations, including submissions to HMRC; - Completing and reviewing monthly control reconciliations; - Liaising with external accountants to complete annual statutory reporting process; - Build on existing systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the company's finances; - Ensure accounting policies comply with the relevant accounting standards and that company policies are followed; - Manage an established Finance team, including remotely managing resources in Germany and Bangladesh; - Assist with budgeting and forecasting across the business; - Recommend changes that will improve the company's financial performance (for example both cost reviews and credit control) and financial controls; and - Perform other ad hoc analyses as required by the board. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES It is expected that the correct candidate will have proficiency in the following areas: - Qualified Accountant or studier; - Experience using Sage and Xero a distinct advantage; - Strong technical accounting knowledge; - Critical thinking and good analytical skills; - Excellent Excel skills; - Strong written and oral communication skills; - Interpersonal skills sufficient to support and advise the Senior Management team, providing strong financial control where necessary; and - Preferably experience of accounting within the professional services sector. - Experience of German or working in Germany also an advantage.
