Assistant Student Support Worker (Asst SSW)

Actual starting salary for 33.5 hours, 38 weeks per year = £11,178.00 based on a FTE of £14,470.00 (RSD 9)

(Actual salary scale £11,178.00 to £11,930.00)

With a proposed rebuild of our current site these are exciting times at the Academy as we look to drive forward our work in deaf education.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic individuals to join our existing team of SSW’s.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing BSL support to Teachers
  • Providing emotional, behavioural and communication support to deaf learners
  • Assisting with the delivery of teaching and learning
  • Participating in and assisting with practical activities aimed at building the confidence and self-esteem of deaf learners

Can you demonstrate:

  • Level 3 in Teaching and Learning or a commitment to achieve this qualification
  • Previous experience of working in education is desirable
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • GCSE grade C in English in Mathematics and/or native BSL user
  • A strong interest in the education and care of deaf learners
  • Good ICT Skills
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team.
  • BSL Level 1 or a commitment to achieve this qualification
