Electrical Design Engineer
Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Job Location: Devon, South West England, UK Job Salary: £40k-£50k per annum (dependent upon experience) Key responsibilities - Component and assembly design from concept to production in an automotive environment using CAD - Produce circuit diagrams and schematics - Produce designs to meet the agreed requirements to time and within hours specified - Maintain accurate design records and maintain drawing issue control - Use the PDM system to store and issue drawings - Revise or amend existing designs and drawings to meet new requirements - Work with the Project Engineer and other team members to provide the best output - Liaise with suppliers in order to source new components - Assess prototype components for correct fit and function - Prepare documentation for design reviews Other responsibilities - Report writing and project information recording - Vehicle testing using data logging and other instrumentation. - Undertake or provide any training that is necessary within your role Company player - Effectively communicates with all members of company staff - Effectively communicates with customers and suppliers - Deals with problems and challenges efficiently and effectively - Administratively effective - keeps business information updated, easily accessible and secure - A 'thinking performer' - challenges/questions the way things are done to find and implement improvements to the way we work. Proactive not reactive - Wants to and does continuously improve themselves (skills and behaviour) - Embodies the company values of integrity, mutual respect, enthusiasm, quality and quantity - Adds something unique to the team (e.g. skills, experience, attributes) What you'll need as the Electrical Design Engineer Essential: - Cad skills preferably Autocad and SolidWorks - Engineering draughting experience of electrical schematics and looms - Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office - A good communication skill (verbal and written) at all levels including suppliers and customers - Generally computer literate and able to adapt to different software etc - Good report writing and project information recording - Able to resolve basic computer problems with minimal help Desirable: - Experience of drawing issue control using PDM. - Experience of a range of automotive systems. - Vehicle testing using data logging and other instrumentation. - Presentation skills Behavioural competencies: - Approachable and dependable - Able to lead and mentor - Logical and thorough approach to record keeping - Able to meet deadlines and control budgets - Drive to achieve quality in all that he/she does - Able to work effectively under pressure Qualifications & experience: - Minimum of HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering - Knowledge of Automotive electrics, 12 and 24v - Proven experience of working in a designer role - Electrical Engineering Degree Organisational fit: - Able to work on an informal basis with colleagues and communicate directly - Able to work as part of a team - Communicates honestly, openly and positively - Able to work on your own initiative and maintain your own motivation - Able to work on an outcome related performance system - Has a positive approach to problems - Balances creative flair with a disciplined approach and good organisational skills - Has the desire and ability to contribute to the company as a whole.
