Main purpose of role: Use system administration tools to investigate diagnose and resolve complex and/or high risk problems to maintain service level agreement levels, as well as analysing consistent problems and providing long term pro-active fix. Carry out operational acceptance testing of new and/or changed systems in relation to network use. Monitor system performance and robustness during user acceptance testing. Manage internal staff and external consultants, suppliers and vendors both on day to day support and in designing and implementing system installations and changes. Tasks, expectations/deliverables System design/configuration to ensure it meets the UKHO's computer systems functional and performance requirements, including recommendation of standards, tools and products. Assessment of the impact of new developments and/or changes in UKHO operational practices including providing cost estimates. Defining working processes for the management of the UKHO's computer network. Day to day operational support for complex problems of the UKHO's computer network. This will often involve making decisions that affect the delivery of the main computer systems. Full brief of the knowledge, skills, experience. Sound working knowledge of MS SQL Server database administration using versions 2R2,2012 Experience of creating and maintaining Sql resilient environments utilising Availability Groups, Mirroring, Log Shipping etc. Automation of tasks using T-sql, Powershell Database backup and restores Performance monitoring and troubleshooting across sizeable estate Experience of cloud hosted environments Knowledge of windows Server 2003 to 2012 Provide customer support and service level management Civil Service Core Competencies or Key Skills or Experience - Level 3 You will be sifted against the following competencies or Key Skills or Experience: Previous experience of Sql Server Knowledge of Sql Server architecture Collaborating and Partnering Managing a Quality service You will be interviewed against the following competencies or Key Skills or Experience: Previous experience of different versions of Sql Server Knowledge of Sql Server architecture Windows server knowledge Leading and communicating Managing a Quality service
