Interim Building Control and Planning Enforcement Manager
Our client requires an interim Building Control Manager. You should have a strong commercial focus and enjoy client contact. Naturally you should also be very experienced in all technical aspects of building control.
The key duties are:
*Marketing, developing and managing the resources of the Building Control service as this is a traded service within a competitive marketplace.
*Developing, managing and participating in the provision of a 24-hour emergency call-out system dealing with dangerous structures.
*Advising other departments of the Council on structural, fire precautions, access for the disabled and building regulation matters.
*Preparing and presenting evidence on behalf of the Council during enforcement proceedings at the Magistrates Court, and to the Local Government Ombudsman as appropriate. Directing legal advisors in relation to enforcement work - for example giving technical buildings advice, and also advising on the specific powers and responsibilities granted through Building Control regulations and the National Planning Policy framework, together with the most recent codes of practice issued by the Government.
*Managing the investigation of allegations of breaches of Planning Control.
*Authorising the negotiation of corrective action and where necessary formal enforcement action where there are breaches of Planning Control.
*Determining retrospective Planning Applications where these are related to work carried out by the Planning Enforcement service.
