We are currently recruiting at our Bridgwater site for a Laboratory Analyst. We are looking for an individual to carry out Laboratory duties in an efficient manner whilst ensuring that the highest quality, hygiene and safety standards are maintained. The successful candidate would ensure that all tests are carried out correctly and corrective action taken if any samples fall outside specification. Please note that this role is part-time, the core hours being 16 per week. Your challenge In this role the key responsibilities will include: Shift work Complete correct entry of results on the LIMS system and generate reports when required. To complete laboratory paperwork and hygiene schedules. Deputise for relevant aspects of the Technicians role in their absence. To carry out routine analysis and testing and to keep the working environment safe, clean and tidy. Reporting Discrepancies Follow escalation procedures and correctly report out of specification results. To quarantine non-conforming product found during routine testing. Undertake initial investigative work for out of specification results. Maintain Equipment To ensure the correct handling of laboratory equipment, keeping key laboratory equipment operating within specification on a daily basis. Be capable of undertaking routine machine calibration and organise external calibrations if required. Report and manage any equipment that is not functional. Ensure the equipment maintenance programme is followed and that records are maintained. Ensure that maintenance procedures are fully documented and trained out. Staff Training Keep z-scores up to date. Conduct and/or oversee training of new laboratory analysts and monitor to ensure that all of their training needs are met. Ensure that training records are maintained and reviews undertaken in line with company procedures and/or requirements. Key skills & experience Must be an organised and reliable team member with good communication skills. Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word. Flexible, able to work different shift patterns to include weekends on a rota. Must have a full UK driving licence. Efficient, works well under pressure, team player, pays attention to detail.
