Role Title: Laboratory Analyst Employment Type: Permanent Location: Devon Salary/Rate: £17,000 - £18,000 Depending on experience Main Purpose of Job To undertake physical and chemical analysis of incoming raw materials, in-process bulk materials and finished products as specified. Role Responsibilities Testing the appropriate materials or product to the approved specification and methods. Flexibility within the Laboratory is a particular requirement for this position. Working on special projects, e.g. production related investigations or Validation exercises GMP inspections Training of trainee analysts. When conducting training, to do so as directed within parameters of the Company Training System. Mentoring of less experienced analysts Peer review of completed analysis The job holder must remain compliant with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). SOP's specific to this job role can be identified via the company Learning Management System. The SOPs are referred to in the Company Quality Manual; this and controlled copies of all SOPs are available for inspection at all Quality stations throughout the Company and via the company Learning Management System. Ensure a health and safety culture is supported in the areas for which the job holder is responsible. This will be achieved through objectives, motivation, education and training, and ensuring that any team member not complying with safety performance standards is dealt with appropriately. Set a personal example in relation to safety practice and ensuring that reporting staff are adequately trained for the task they are asked to undertake, including use of control measures and PPE. Responsible for organising, prioritising and executing own workload, under the direct supervision of either Analytical Lab Supervisor Bulk/Fin Prod or Incoming Materials Laboratory Supervisor or Senior Analyst Interprets results of physical and chemical testing against specifications. To participate fully in the Company's programmes for: (a) Training (b) Health and Safety (c) Continuous Improvement. When engaged in training exercises, to maintain training aids, instructing trainees in physical and chemical analytical techniques, documenting records of training. Interprets results of physical & chemical testing against documented specifications. All non-conforming results to be referred to Supervisor Liaises closely with Supervisor and Management within other analytical and inspection sections of the Quality Assurance function; Manufacturing, Packaging Departments and Process Support. Co-operates with technical representatives of Contract Givers and Regulators (including MHRA, HSE and BSi). Candidate requirements: A minimum of a first degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry A" Level Chemistry (or equivalent) Minimum GCSE grade "C"; or equivalent, in Mathematics and English Language couple years Lab experience Engages well Technical writing skills Miscellaneous To perform any reasonable request that may be required from time to time to fulfil the general and specific responsibilities of the above position.
