Area Retail Manager - South West Location: Plymouth Hours: Full Time 35 hours including weekends Contract type: Permanent Salary: GBP 32000 About the role Integral to the management of the retail operation, this is a demanding role responsible for the direction and leadership of a large, diverse portfolio of premises, staff and volunteers. One of a team of area retail managers in the South West business unit, the role will influence the future direction of the retail operation in the area. This role will be at the heart of negotiating the level of support that will be required to enable resource efficiencies to be consistently delivered within the area and the post holder will provide leadership and direction, challenging the team to make informed business decisions and to grow the business. Whilst not having direct line management responsibility, the post holder will be expected to support, advise and provide direction to the shop managers in all aspect of volunteer management. They post holder will be required to work with a variety of dedicated support teams, including property, finance, communications and HR, L&D and volunteering, demonstrating influence and drive that will be required to proactively manage and develop the retail business. About the team The Retail Department operates around 350 Red Cross charity shops throughout the UK and has a complement of about 6,500 volunteers and 700 paid staff and a turnover in excess of GBP 30m per annum. Red Cross is a key player in the charity retail sector and is aiming to maintain and improve current market share. As the face of the organisation on the high street, our profile is integral to the public perception of the British Red Cross in the UK.
