We are looking for a talented Technical Manager to join our UK team based at our Yeovil site in the South West of England. Your main activities will include: • Supporting the strategy development for Avionics Systems for the applicable company products, including the technical approach to be adopted, supporting resources and facilities required and the scope and extent of any vendor partnerships needed to execute the strategy. • Capture of requirements for Avionic Systems and the scheming of optimal solutions, using computer based tools and analysis, modelling and prototyping techniques, where appropriate. • Detailed design and specification of Avionic Systems, including the preparation of specifications and statements of work for vendor products. • Execution of design analysis and trade-off studies to support the evaluation of alternative solutions and select the best, balanced technical product. Use of computer tools, prototyping and analysis techniques, where appropriate, to assess system performance. • Management and oversight of vendor engineering activities that support Avionic Systems, including review and approval of vendor designs, test procedures and qualification/certification documentation. • Ensuring the safety and airworthiness of all Avionic Systems for the relevant company products. • Production and approval of documentation to support airworthiness clearance and qualification of Communication Systems ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE • Ability to understand complex engineering processes and the inter-dependency of the process components. • Experience of managing and working in cross-functional team environments. • Experience with the leading technical staff within a business environment. • Experience with the management of department tasks, processes and business functions. • Ability to make complex technical decisions based on information assimilated from a number of technical experts. • Capability to identify and direct improvements to complex processes, judging the balance between the cost and impact of change and its resulting benefits. • Communication and team leadership competencies; problem solving, decision making, influencing, negotiating. • Commercial business strategy and procedural awareness, programme/time management abilities.
